27.07.2020 Der am 8. Februar 1944 in Yokohama geborene japanische Modeschöpfer Kansai Yamamoto ist am 21. Juli 2020 gestorben. Er war ein Pionier der japanischen Modeindustrie. 1971 eröffnete er seine eigene Firma Yamamoto Kansai Company Ltd. in Tokyo. Im gleichen Jahr gab er sein Debüt in London und in den USA beim Hess's Department Store in Allentown. 1977 eröffnete Yamamoto die Kansai Boutique in Paris. Grosse internationale Bekanntheit erreichte er durch die Schaffung von Bühnenkostümen für David Bowie (Ziggy Stardust Tour), Elton John, Stevie Wonder u.a.m.
