DIE US-AMERIKANISCHE KÜNSTLERIN BRIGID BERLIN ALIAS BRIGID POLK IST GESTORBEN

19.07.2020 Die am 6. September 1939 in New York City geborene US-amerikanische Künstlerin und Schauspielerin Brigid Berlin alias Brigid Polk ist am 17. Juli 2020 ebenda gestorben. Sie war eine Muse des Künstlers Andy Warhol und eine der wenigen "Superstars", die bis zum Tod Warhols dem engeren Freundeskreis des exzentrischen Künstlers angehörten. Ab 1975 war sie redaktionell mitverantwortlich für Warhols Magazin "Interview". Brigid Berlin hielt in der New Yorker St.Patrick’s Cathedral die Trauerrede für Andy Warhol. Berlins eigenes kreatives Schaffen umfasste kontinuierliches Fotografieren, Tonaufnahmen, Performances und die sogenannten "Tittenbilder" (tit paintings).

Berlin might best be remembered for her close association with Warhol, whom she met in 1964. She was a fixture at the Factory throughout the 1960s and '70s-at times serving as its receptionist-and was seen by many as Warhol's "best friend." They talked daily during those years, called themselves Mr. and Mrs. Pork, and, according to legend, it was Berlin who introduced Warhol to the Polaroid camera.
