07.02.2020 Der am 31. Oktober 1927 in Brooklyn (New York City) geborene US-amerikanische Autor und Journalist Roger Kahn ist am 6. Februar 2020 gestorben. Besondere Bekanntheit erwarb er mit seinem Baseball-Roman "The Boys of Summer".

His 1972 book about his beloved Brooklyn Dodgers, acknowledged as a classic, was, like many of his 20 or so other books, steeped in memories of his boyhood.

Acclaimed by many as the best baseball writer in the country, his prolific output was widely diverse. He wrote more than 20 books, two of them novels, the others dealing with such topics as politics, Jews in America, racial injustice, student unrest and boxing, and countless magazine articles on whatever else he found interesting or disturbing.

Liebe für eine Baseball-Mannschaft

Bekannt wurde er vor allem durch seinen Roman Boys of Summer (1972), in dem er die Beziehung zu seinem Vater durch ihre gemeinsame Liebe für die Baseball-Mannschaft Brooklyn Dodgers beschreibt.
