Monica Bello is the new curator of Arts@Cern

27.02.2015 Arts@CERN is very happy to announce the new curator, Monica Bello, who will be joining the team as the leader of the programme, starting next week.
"Monica
Bello is a wonderful curator, who has been a highly inspirational artistic
director of VIDA Awards - one of the leading awards in the field of new
media and digital arts.
Her expertise in working
with artists, technologists and scientists and her excellent leadership skills
and experience, made her the outstanding choice to lead the programme"
says Arts@CERN Creator and Founding Director, Ariane Koek who led the panel to
select her successor.
"Monica Bello is committed to preserving and developing still further the unique multidisciplinary nature of our arts/science/technology programme across all the art forms - including theater, dance, architecture, visual arts, music and many more as well as in her specialist area of new media and digital arts.
The CERN Cultural Board will be working with her closely to continue this legacy as well as the programme's continued development. Julian Calo, who has been part of Arts@CERN since June 2013, will continue his roll in charge of the programme's coordination and assisting in the communication."
Since 2010, Monica Bello has been the artistic director of VIDA, the international competition for art and artificial life, funded by Fundacion Telefonica. Previously, she was head of education at LABoral Centro de Arte (Gijon, Spain). She participates regularly in international advisory committees and juries, and she dedicates her research to the most experimental forms of art and emerging cultural practices. She is currently completing a PhD.
