17.02.2020 Der am 6. April 1963 in Windsor geborene britische Musiker, DJ und Musikproduzent Andrew Weatherall (Bild) ist am 17. Februar 2020 gestorben. Neben Veröffentlichungen unter seinem eigenen Namen war er insbesondere für seine Arbeit in den Projekten The Sabres of Paradise und Two Lone Swordsmen bekannt. Begonnen hatte Weatherall seine Karriere als Musikjournalist; er betätigte sich auch im Bereich des Grafikdesigns und war als Musikverleger aktiv.

The legendary DJ and producer passed away in London this morning

Weatherall was in the process of releasing new music, including the Unknown Plunderer / End Times Sound EP on Byrd Out. He had also been booked for a number of festivals and events like inner city electronic, Houghton, Love International, GALA and more.

He worked extensively as a DJ and producer and was a member of the groups Sabres of Paradise and the duo Two Lone Swordsmen, but there's little question that his most influential work was as a producer of Primal Scream's groundbreaking 1991 album "Screamadelica," a pioneering fusion of rock sounds and sensibilities with the burgeoning electronic dance music of the era. Its sprawling influence can be heard in acts like the Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk, and it has become part of the foundation of contemporary dance music.
