08.04.2020 Der am 10. Oktober 1946 in Maywood (Illinois) geborene US-amerikanische Folk- und Country-Singer-Songwriter und Gitarrist John Prine (Bild) ist am 7. April 2020 in Nashville (Tennessee) gestorben. Er gehörte zu den einflussreichsten Songwritern seiner Generation in den USA und weit darüber hinaus, - berühmt für seine humorvollen, melancholischen und sozial engagierten Liedtexte. Mit den Alben "The Missing Years" und "Fair & Square" hatte John Prine die begehrten Grammy-Trophäen für das Beste zeitgenössische Folk-Album gewonnen. Noch im Februar 2020 war er bei den Grammy-Verleihungen mit einem Ehrenpreis für sein Lebenswerk ausgezeichnet worden. Prine wurde verehrt von vielen anderen Künstlern wie Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson oder Bruce Springsteen.
