13.02.2020 Der am 27. November 1953 in Wausaukee (Wisconsin) geborene US-amerikanische Pianist, Keyboardspieler, Arrangeur und Komponist Lyle Mays (Bild) ist am 10. Februar 2020 in Los Angeles gestorben. Er war Mitgründer und 27 Jahre lang Mitglied der Pat Metheny Group. Gemeinsam mit Metheny schrieb er auch den internationalen Hit "This Is Not America" (gesungen von David Bowie).

Pat Metheny's full statement: "Lyle was one of the greatest musicians I have ever known. Across more than 30 years, every moment we shared in music was special. From the first notes we played together, we had an immediate bond. His broad intelligence and musical wisdom informed every aspect of who he was in every way. I will miss him with all my heart."
