10.09.2020 Der am 1. November 1951 in Youngstown (Ohio) geborene US-amerikanische Sänger, Songwriter, Arrangeur und Musikproduzent Ronald Nathan Bell (Bild) ist am 9. September 2020 auf den US-amerikanischen Virgin Islands gestorben. Bekannt war er auch als Khalil Bayyan. Weltberühmt wurde Ronald Bell als Mitgründer und Mitglied der Soul-, Funk-, R&B- und Disco-Gruppe Kool & the Gang. Die Band wurde u.a. durch den Hollywood Walk of Fame, 1978 mit einem Grammy und 2018 durch die Aufnahme in die Songwriters Hall of Fame geehrt. Ronald Bell schrieb und produzierte etliche der grössten Hits der Gang wie z.B. "Celebration", "Cherish", "Jungle Boogie", "Summer Madness", "Ladies Night" und "Open Sesame".

Ronald Bell and his older brother Robert joined forces with their Jersey City neighborhood friends Dennis "D.T." Thomas, Robert "Spike" Mickens, Charles Smith, George Brown and Ricky West in 1964 to whip up a unique blend of jazz, soul and funk.
