24.08.2020 Der am 4. Januar 1982 in Nashville geborene US-amerikanische Singer-Songwriter und Musiker Justin Townes Earle (Bild) ist am 23. August 2020 gestorben. "Er war der Sohn des legendären Countrykünstlers Steve Earle und hatte sich selbst als ernst zu nehmende Grösse etabliert" ("Spiegel"). Seinen zweiten Vornamen hatte Justin als Referenz an Townes Van Zandt erhalten, Mentor und Vorbild seines Vaters.

Seine eigene Karriere als Musiker begann 2007 mit der Debüt-EP "Yuma". In der Folge verfeinerte Earle seinen Americana-Stil aus Folk, Blues, Country und Rock'n' Roll. Mit dem Album "Harlem River Blues" und der gleichnamigen Single-Auskopplung wurde er 2010 einem grösseren Publikum bekannt.
