Mores fue pianista, director de orquesta de tango y autor de varios temas famosos como "Uno", "Cafetín de Buenos Aires", "Adiós pampa mía", "Cuartito azul", "Taquito militar", "Tanguera", "El firulete", entre otros. Fue nombrado como el mejor compositor de tango del siglo, en 2000, y su tema "Taquito militar" resultó votado como la mejor milonga.

En algún lugar arrancó hoy una fiesta, con Mariano Mores al piano llenándolos a todos de su talento, de su música, "que sí eternamente vivirá". Así despidió al prócer del tango -"un grande entre los grandes"- su nieta Mariana Fabbiani, que confirmó el fallecimiento de Mores a los 98 años a través de las redes sociales.
